Molly Carmody

Attorney

Molly Carmody is an experienced family law practitioner, certified mediator, collaborative attorney and a fellow of the Collaborative Divorce Institute of Illinois. Molly represents clients in all matters related to divorce and parentage issues, as well as assisting clients with adoption and surrogacy matters and in domestic violence proceedings. Molly also has experience as an Assistant Public Guardian for the Cook County Public Guardian’s Office, where she represented minor children in abuse, neglect and dependency cases. While Molly has significant litigation experience, she is passionate about cooperative and collaborative processes such as mediation and collaborative law, and settlement.

Every family is unique, and Molly recognizes that resolutions for families is not “one size fits all.”  Molly’s patience, empathy, and legal acumen allow her to provide clients with creative, tailored solutions to help clients reach outcomes that are in the best interests for their individual family. Molly’s goal is to ensure that each client feels that their voice is heard both in and out of the courtroom, and to ease a client’s worries and concerns related to the process.

Molly attended Loyola University of Chicago and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, focusing her studies on child development. She then attended the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign College of Law where she graduated cum laude and received a CALI Excellence Award in Advanced Legal research, an award designated for the highest academic achiever in a given law course. While in law school, Molly used her 711 License to represent children and parents in abuse and neglect cases, as well as participated in a Domestic Violence and Immigration clinic where she assisted survivors of domestic violence in obtaining Orders of Protection and applying for United States visas pursuant to the Violence Against Women Act (“VAWA”).

Molly is passionate about family law and was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers Magazine in 2020-2021, 2021-2022 and 2023 – 2024 (a distinction reserved for the top 2.5% of attorneys in Illinois under the age of 40).
